Tide's Ingram sits practice, uncertain for Sat.

CBSSports.comAlabama tailback Mark Ingram has missed another practice ahead of the Penn State game.

Ingram didnt practice Tuesday with a left knee injury that kept the Heisman Trophy winner out of the top-ranked Crimson Tides opener against San Jose State.

Coach Nick Saban said Monday that Ingrams status would depend on how he progressed daily in his rehab. He said in order for him to put his star into the game against the 19th-ranked Nittany Lions, he had to "see Mark Ingram being Mark Ingram."

More AP Top 25 voters are buying into Boise State as the No. 1 team in the country.

Boise State gained seven first-place votes and closed in on No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State as the top three teams in the first regular season Associated Press football poll held their spots from the preseason.

The Broncos remained third after a thrilling 33-30 victory against Virginia Tech on Monday night, receiving eight first-place votes and 1,399 points from the media panel, 13 points behind the Buckeyes.

Ohio State received four first-place votes and 1,412 points.

Saban: Alabama won't appeal Dareus suspension

CBSSports.comNo. 1 Alabama will face 19th-ranked Penn State without defensive end Marcell Dareus, and coach Nick Saban isnt betting on Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram making it back either.

Saban said Monday that Alabama wont appeal Dareus two-game NCAA suspension for improper agent benefits.

"We researched it, and we didnt feel there was any precedent to appeal it," he said. "I wish it was less, but when you look at the facts, you have to say is there any other case that would say he got an unfair punishment? ... We didnt feel like there was a precedent for appeal."

Wyoming football player killed in wreck

CBSSports.com wir A University of Wyoming football player was killed and three teammates were injured when a pickup drifted off a Colorado highway and crashed on Monday, authorities said.

Ruben Narcisse, 19, of Miami was killed, the Colorado State Patrol said.

Trey Fox, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Christian Morgan, 18, of Aurora, Colo., and J.J. Quinlan, 19, of Everett, Wash., were injured and were taken to hospitals in Laramie, Wyo., and Loveland, Colo.

Morgans injuries were serious but were not believed to be life-threatening, troopers said. Fox had moderate injuries.

Tennessee receiver Jones might miss 2-3 games

CBSSports.comTennessee starting wide receiver Gerald Jones has a broken bone in his left hand and could miss at least two or three games.

That would keep out the Volunteers leading receiver from the past two seasons for games against No. 11 Oregon, No. 4 Florida and UAB.

Jones, who is a senior, led Tennessee (1-0) in a 50-0 win over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday with 86 yards on six catches. He left the field clutching his left hand midway through the third quarter after catching a 37-yard pass from Matt Simms, his longest reception of the game.
